Managing Partner - Data Science & Software Engineering

Dr. Jonathan Krein

Dr. Krein is a subject matter expert in software engineering, data analytics, machine learning & AI, e-commerce, wireless communications, networking, embedded systems, web technologies, and user interfaces. Dr. Krein served as President and CEO, and then CTO and Chief Software Architect for Kinpoint, Inc., Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Brigham Young University, a researcher at IBM's T. J. Watson research center, and a professional software engineer for the Office of IT BYU. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors for Kids On The Move and Kinpoint and consults in the software industry. Dr. Krein has extensive experience in source code review and systems analysis and has performed hundreds of code reviews throughout his career.

Dr. Krein has served as an expert on nearly 100 matters to date, and is experienced at giving testimony by report, deposition, and at trial. His litigation experience includes trade secret misappropriation, copyright infringement, various patent actions, breach of contract, negligence, and others. He has provided testimony for cases in district courts, state courts, arbitration (JAMS, AAA), before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and in various foreign jurisdictions.

Dr. Ryan W. West

Dr. West is a subject matter expert in 5G and other wireless/distributed networking technologies, blockchain, mobile systems, operating systems, and software engineering, among other topics. He has worked as a software and site reliability engineer at various companies in the blockchain, digital identity, data analytics, and financial sectors. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Utah focused on wireless and secure distributed networking and previously designed, launched and oversaw their Computer Science’s Industry Capstone program.

Dr. West has served as a testifying or consulting expert for many of the largest Fortune 100 and Global 500 companies. His legal consulting experience includes cases involving patent infringement, data breach analysis, trade secret misappropriation, copyright violation, and breach of contract. Topics include mobile operating systems, blockchain and zero-trust security systems, visual and audio processing/streaming, 5G/Bluetooth wireless and distributed networks, embedded systems and architectures, firewalls, location services, payment processing systems, machine learning, and many others.

Dr. Charles D. Knutson

Dr. Knutson is a subject matter expert in wired and wireless data communications, mobile computing, operating systems, software interface design, programming languages, product development, software process, software architecture, software testing, empirical software engineering, and analysis of source code. Dr. Knutson has spent more than 20 years in academia and is currently an Emeritus Professor of Computer Science at Brigham Young University.

Dr. Knutson has extensive experience in source code review and systems analysis and has performed hundreds of code reviews throughout his career. He has been involved in nearly 100 litigation matters since 2003, including cases involving patent litigation, patent reexaminations, technology-centered contract disputes, copyright infringement, source code misappropriation, trade secret misappropriation, and failed software projects. Over the past 20 years Dr. Knutson has represented 8 of the top 12 technology companies in the U.S. as a testifying expert. He has provided testimony for cases in district courts, state courts, arbitration (AAA), before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

Daniel P. Delorey

Dan is a subject matter expert in cloud data warehousing, large-scale data processing, SQL, relational databases, generative AI, and machine learning with a specialty in code review, source code forensics, and analysis of complex software systems. Over his career, Dan has performed hundreds of code reviews in contexts ranging from everyday software development to mergers and acquisitions valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, as well as high-stakes intellectual property litigation where source code evidence was pivotal.

Dan co-invented and developed key technologies for Google’s BigQuery service—including contributing to the query engine, storage format, and realtime-shuffler, among other technologies. At Google, he served in numerous engineering and management roles for fourteen years, including as Director of BigQuery. He also led Google’s Mergers and Acquisitions Technical Integrations team, managing technical considerations for the onboarding and review of acquired codebases. In addition to his time at Google, Dan has served as Vice President of Engineering for Data at SoFi, overseeing SoFi’s migration to a modern cloud-based data warehousing infrastructure, as well as Senior Director of Engineering at Moloco, leading teams developing petabyte-scale, low-latency machine learning infrastructure.
